Happy Friday my crazy little love monkeys! Did you stick this week in the blender, mix it up good and drink it down? You’re ramalamdingdong right you did!
Man Alive! Isn’t summer supposed to be relaxing and care-free? Holy smokes, I think I’ve been busier than when all the kids were in school! It’s been an endless string of running here and going there and getting ready for this and making plans for that… Whew! Is it time for the kids to go back to school yet because I don’t think I’ll get any work done otherwise.
Anyhoodle, let’s move along into this week’s blog! Again, I’m doing something a little different this time. I have to admit that this idea came to me via my very own personal Yoda, the gorgeous and amazing Victoria Michaels. She has been such a mentor to me in the last two and a half years, there aren’t words to express the love and admiration I have for her. Well, yesterday she posted a blog that inspired me to share some of my summer reading choices with you!
Confession time! I’m a habitual series reader, meaning that I read a ridiculous amount of series books. And I should also confess that when I say “read” I really mean listen to because I am an audio book junkie. What I love about audio books is that I can “read” a book while I’m puttering around the house being Suzy Homemaker. One more confession, I’m also a sucker for a good, juicy, historical romance! Okay, so that one probably wasn’t all that shocking 😉 So, today I’m going to share with you five of series’ that I’ve been sucked into as of late, the ones that you should definitely pick-up/download for some good, juicy, summer reading!
First off is Elizabeth Hoyt. Now I’m going to cheat a little bit, because I’ve been reading not one but two of her book series’, the Maiden Lane series and Legend of the Four Soldiers. The Maiden Lane series only has two books in it to date and I can’t WAIT for the third that’s coming in November. However, there are four books in the Legend series! What I love about her is that she weaves these little story blurbs into the tales at the beginning of every chapter and I found myself just as excited to hear about them as I was for the actual story at hand. Amazing!
Second in line (alphabetically, of course) is Julia London. With Miss Julia I have been sucked in by the Scandalous series. This is a series of three books, The Book of Scandal, Highland Scandal and A Courtesan’s Scandal. She has a new series that only has one book in it, which I haven’t read yet, but I assure you that I will be!
Third is Lisa Kleypas. This is the series that I am currently engaged in, The Hathaway series. I’m only two books into the five book series but I’m in love with the Hathaway family! This series follows the five Hathaway siblings, four sisters and one brother. The first two books have been a-mazing! Gypsy men in both, the one in the first book evokes a very Johnny Depp from Chocolate vibe. That is what sucked me in, but the love of the Hathaway family will keep me reading all five books like a fiend!
Fourth is Mary Jo Putney. This is another series that I’ve recently started and fallen hopelessly in love with, The Lost Lords series. So far I’ve only read the first two of the currently three book series as the audio version of the third book just became available! Yes, I squeed and bounced up and down with glee whilst I downloaded it.
Fifth is the incomparable Sabrina Jefferies. This is another one where I’m going to have to cheat because I’ve read not one but two of her series’, The School for Heiresses series with six books and The Hellions of Halsted Hall with four books and a fifth due out in November. What I enjoyed about these was that characters from both series’ make appearances in both series! I love that kind of interweaving!
Well my loves, I really hope you pop on over and check out these amazing women, don’t forget to check out my Yoda, Victoria Michaels and check her out as well, she is an amazing writer and I just adore her to bits! Also, Omnific Publishing has released not one but TWO Summer Anthologies! One for the YA crowd and one for the crowd that likes a lil sumpin’ sumpin’ in their tales, if you know what I mean 😉
One more thing before I give you your Friday back, are you checking out all the guest bloggers in the Sizzling Summer Author Extravaganza? Yeah, I know you have been! How do I know that? Well, because I have the most awesome love monkeys in the history of love monkeys, that’s how!
Be good my darlings and try to stay cool in the summer heat! Stay tuned for next Friday!
Until next time,
Patty ❤
P.S. I couldn’t leave you without something pretty to look at, now could I?
Yeah, that’s better *dreamy sigh*
